Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Below is a selection of frequently asked questions about the Wireless Informatics Forum. If you have a question that is not answered below then please contact us.
What is WIF?
Wireless informatics represents a new success driver for the mobile industry, and the Wireless Informatics Forum is the first and only resource dedicated to promoting its place in the enhancement of the user experience.
The Wireless Informatics Forum (WIF) is a non-profit organization driven by WDSGlobal; it is designed to promote the collection, validation and sharing of knowledge to collectively build a better understanding of user experience optimization and define industry best practice. It is our vision that the forum becomes the industry’s number one resource for anyone with an interest in, or commitment to, the user experience.

Why is the mobile user experience so important?
Delivering a positive user experience can have an immediate impact on revenue and subscriber loyalty. It can also be a key differentiator for a mobile brand.
The bad news is that the user experience is often the weakest link in the mobile value chain. It is easily damaged and typically results in end-users whose profitability stagnates and can be attacked from multiple angles.

What value do you add to the industry?
We are community resource. By that we mean we act as an industry meeting place and aggregator for user experience best practice. Our purpose is to act as a knowledge repository and discussion group for anyone committed to deploying user experience best practice into their own environments.
We are not about standards settings and we are not about industrial lobbying, we are about industry alignment behind what we believe to be new success driver for the mobile market – Wireless Informatics.

How can I participate?
We invite everyone to participate through our forums. You may also wish to formalize your involvement with WIF by becoming a partner. As a partner you benefit from joint marketing activities, the chance to define industry best practice, input to the magazine, demonstrate your own commitment to the user experience and participate in WIF events.

Does it cost anything to participate in WIF?
No, even partner membership is free – all in the spirit of working together to align an industry in danger of drifting further apart!

What is expected from me and/or my organisation?
All that we ask is that Member Companies actively participate in forums, sometimes taking a moderator role, and that relevant documents (case studies, knowledge articles, reports, research etc) are shared with members. We also ask that Member Companies actively promote WIF in their own work.
